1. The Art of the War
Don't just trigger a War whenever you can. Look at the cards already in the pile. If they are low-value cards, you might want to save your match for a bigger pile later.
2. Trump Management
In Phase 2, trumps are your lifeline. Avoid using them early on low cards unless you absolutely have to. Saving a high trump for the final rounds can save you from becoming the Mattis.
3. Memory is Key
Try to remember which high cards were taken by which player during Phase 1. This gives you a massive advantage in Phase 2 when you need to decide whether to play high or low.
